Mental health research team — clinical, equity and AI expertise — seeking consortium

Lecturer, Researcher at University of Waikato

Hamilton, New Zealand

About

We are a partner seeking a consortium/coordinator.

We are a multidisciplinary mental health research team based at the University of Waikato and the University of Auckland, New Zealand (Horizon Europe Pillar 2 associated country), with a clinical background in mental health services and expertise in population-level data analysis. Our team also brings lived experience of mental health, which informs and strengthens our research approach. We work with large-scale linked administrative datasets covering health, education, social welfare, and justice outcomes at a national level.

Our research focuses on mental health inequities, strength-based measurement frameworks, and cross-national health system comparisons. We bring spatial analysis skills, including geospatial mapping of health outcomes, service access, and community-level resilience. We are currently developing a NZ-Switzerland feasibility study comparing mental health trajectories across two very different health systems.

Our team includes senior expertise in AI and machine learning, complex systems science, health services research, and data science.

We can contribute to your consortium:

∙ Population-level linked administrative data analysis (health, education, social outcomes)

∙ Spatial and geospatial analysis of health service access, outcomes, and inequities

∙ Clinical insight into mental health service delivery, pathways, and barriers to care

∙ Strength-based mental health and wellbeing measurement (moving beyond deficit models)

∙ Equity-focused analysis for underserved and marginalised communities

∙ AI and complex systems science approaches to modelling health system dynamics and mental health trajectories

∙ A non-European comparator perspective, strengthening the international dimension of your proposal

We are actively looking for a coordinator or forming consortium to join as a contributing partner. If you are building a consortium for any of the calls listed below, we would welcome the opportunity to contribute under your coordination. We are also open to early-stage collaboration to build working relationships and preliminary outputs ahead of proposal submission.
