Developing in vitro and in vivo models based on samples from patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

Researcher at Instituto de Biomedicina de Sevilla

Seville, Spain

About

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most frequent primary liver tumor and ranks as the third leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. The project aims to identify the lncRNA and miRNA signature, its relationship with mRNA expression and metabolic analysis in exosomes, and disease-free survival clinical parameters in patients with advanced HCC in metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) nunder treatment. The signature will be validated in a reliable in vitro model based on the human organoids derived from clinical samples, and an in vivo model based on the nutritional and toxic combined experimental model. The therapeutic application of the previously identified lncRNA/miRNA signature in patient will be assessed by incorporating in a developed β-cyclodextrin-based nanovectorization strategy in an experimental in vivo HCC model.
