Identifying and addressing low-value care in health and care systems

Value-Up proposes to tackle low-value care (LVC) through a multi-level, value-focused framework designed to reclaim the resources spent on overuse, misuse and underuse of healthcare services. Leveraging a consortium with deep expertise in VBHC implementation, the project will develop and validate use-case-specific RWD-based LVC indicators and de-implementation strategies that address both clinical care and the reimbursement models that inadvertently incentivize volume over value. To help future-proofing European healthcare systems and ensure long-term impact, Value-Up will deliver a scalability toolkit, enabling the expansion of this methodology across diverse use-cases and European regions.

Building on our existing expertise in VBHC and RWE, we are looking for partners to round out a multidisciplinary team capable of designing and validating this framework for systemic change, namely:

1. A Health Economics & Policy Expert Partner to provide specialized expertise in designing innovative reimbursement models aligned with value-based principles and translating technical findings into actionable insights for policymakers.

2. A Behavioral/Social Sciences Partner capable of embedding behavioral nudging in the design of LVC de-implementation strategies and ensuring the social acceptability of these interventions.

3. An Environmental Impact Assessment Expert Partner to conduct the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the proposed strategies and provide strategic input to ensure scalability aligns with green healthcare standards.
