Associate professor in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino

Torino, Italy

About

Addiction due to smartphone and social media use/misuse/abuse affects not only the reward circuit, but also circuits involved with memory  (conditioning/habits), motivation (energy, drive), executive function (inhibitory control, salience attribution, decision making), mood (stress reactivity and hedonic state),...

Proposal: Platform for biosignal/neorocognitive tracking  (physical activity, sleep rhythm, eye tracking, EMG to track muscle activity, NIRS to monitor brain metabolism, skin impedance to measure stress + neuropsyc. evaluations...) to assess young individuals before/after periods of social-media and smarthphone deprivation + inclusion in socializing/recreational outdoor activities.
