Project Proposal: AI-GREEN-LOGISTICS
Horizon Europe Brokerage Event – Cluster 1: Health (2026)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Project Identification
• Target Topic: HORIZON-HLTH-2026-01-ENVHLTH-04
• Topic Title: Towards climate resilient, prepared and carbon neutral populations and healthcare systems.
• Acronym: AI-GREEN-LOGISTICS
• Full Title: Artificial Intelligence for Scope 3 Decarbonization in Healthcare Transport and Waste Management.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. The Challenge (The "Why")
The healthcare sector is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Scope 3 emissions (indirect emissions including transport and supply chain) account for approximately 71% of the total healthcare footprint. Current challenges include:
• Inefficient patient transport logistics leading to high emissions and "empty kilometers".
• Lack of real-time traceability of the carbon footprint in waste management and logistics,.
• Vulnerability of health transport systems to extreme climate events (heatwaves, floods).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. The Solution (The "What")
AI-GREEN-LOGISTICS proposes a scalable, digital solution to decarbonize critical non-clinical hospital services. We combine Real-World Operations with Advanced AI to:
1. Optimize Logistics: Evolution of the SIPORT platform using Generative AI to minimize fuel consumption in collective patient transport,.
2. Measure Scope 3: Deploy a cognitive IoT platform to trace and certify carbon footprint reduction in real-time,.
3. Ensure Resilience: Predictive models correlating meteorological data with health demand to adapt fleet capacity during climate emergencies.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. The Consortium Core (The "Who")
A. Industrial Partner & Living Lab: ORTHEM (Hozono Global Group)
• Role: End-user, Pilot Site, and Operational Expert.
• Capabilities:
◦ Leader in sanitary transport (Transinsa/Ambex) and environmental facility management,.
◦ Eco-Fleet: Extensive experience with CNG, hybrid, and electric ambulances, reducing CO2 by up to 95% compared to diesel,.
◦ Certifications: ISO 14001, EMAS, and ISO 50001 certified, ensuring rigorous environmental management,.
◦ Digital Baseline: Already implementing SIPORT, an intelligent route management system ready for AI upgrading,.
B. Technological Partner: AI TALENTUM
• Role: AI Developer and Technology Provider.
• Capabilities:
◦ Specialists in Applied Artificial Intelligence for sustainability and carbon footprint measurement.
◦ Proven track record in EU Health projects (e.g., ARISTOTELES project for cardiovascular decision support).
◦ Developers of ProviewMeter, a cognitive platform for IoT management, essential for real-time emission tracking.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Innovation Potential
The project moves beyond simple "fleet renewal" by integrating a Digital Twin approach for healthcare logistics:
• From Static to Dynamic: Moving from standard route planning to AI-driven dynamic adjustments based on traffic, patient needs, and weather.
• Scope 3 Visibility: Providing hospitals with certified data on their indirect emissions, a current "black box" in healthcare sustainability.
• Climate Adaptation: Using predictive analytics to ensure transport services remain operational during climate crises, enhancing system resilience,.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Partner Search (Who we are looking for)
To complete our consortium, we are looking for:
1. Coordinator (University / RTO): Expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and health impact assessment to scientifically validate the environmental and health benefits of the solution,.
2. Public Health Authority / Hospital Network: An entity willing to act as a Pilot/Demonstrator site to deploy the solution and validate the reduction of their Scope 3 emissions.
