About
Wingate Institute – Innovation and Living-Lab for Sport, Health and Performance
The Wingate Institute – Israel’s National Institute for Sport Excellence – serves as a national hub for elite athlete development, applied sports science, and innovation in performance and health. In recent years, Wingate has established a dedicated Innovation Unit to position the Institute as a leading international living-lab for the development, validation, and deployment of cutting-edge solutions in sport, health, and human performance.
Wingate operates a unique real-world testbed environment, hosting national teams, elite athletes, coaches, sports medicine professionals, and academic researchers within a single integrated campus. This ecosystem enables rapid prototyping, pilot testing, and clinical-grade validation of innovative technologies in areas such as digital health monitoring, injury prevention, rehabilitation, personalized training optimization, data-driven decision support, and AI-based performance analytics.
The Innovation Unit actively partners with startups, industry leaders, research institutions, and public stakeholders to co-develop solutions addressing key challenges in population health, physical activity promotion, and resilience. Dedicated pilot programs, accelerator activities, and structured evaluation frameworks allow external partners to access high-quality end-users, controlled testing conditions, and multidisciplinary expertise spanning sports science, medicine, data science, and behavioral research.
Through this integrated approach, Wingate bridges the gap between research and real-world implementation, transforming scientific knowledge into scalable health and performance solutions. The Institute seeks strategic collaboration within Horizon Europe to jointly develop, validate, and disseminate innovative technologies that enhance health outcomes, physical activity engagement, and sustainable high-performance environments across Europe and beyond.
