Fostering Environmental Stewardship in Health institutions
Clinician/Professor of Medicine at Delta State University
Benin, Nigeria
About
The overarching goal of this project is to foster environmental stewardship. The study will assess the preparedness of health institutions for climate action and environmental sustainability (CA & ES), and the knowledge, attitude and practice of health care professionals and medical educators in tertiary institutions in Nigeria and partner African countries.
Medical educators and HCP professionals will be empowered through training and mobilisation to institutions with well established CA& ES centers . They will in turn collaborate to develop 1) a curriculum for CA and ES programs at their home institution. 2) In partnership with their institution management, create a CA & ES unit/department in their faculties and teaching hospitals. 3) Advocate for green hospitals and ES through strategic engagements, campaigns and research. 4) Overtime, train undergrad and graduate students who are knowledgeable and ready to be champions of ES in the society.
