About

AITEX PROFILE

AITEX (www.aitex.es) is a textile research centre located in Spain, formed by textile, garment, and apparel companies. Its main objective is to improve the competitiveness of the sector by promoting modernisation activities, introducing new technologies, and enhancing the companies' performance. AITEX has strong industrial representation with more than 1,500 associated companies worldwide. The main objective of AITEX is the development of activities to support the textile & confection sector (i.e. R&D, testing & certification, regulation and standardisation, training, consultancy, laboratory services,  quality and  environmental  impact,  market  analysis,  etc). The centre has a vast network of stakeholders and companies covering the whole textile subsectors and covering the whole value chain (i.e. fashion, textile supply chain, cosmetics, hygiene, medical textile, sports, clothing, personal protection equipment, textiles for automotive, public transport, textiles for architecture, sport surfaces, geotextiles, masks, cosmetic-textiles, diapers, food-contact textiles, military textiles, textile for public procurement, etc…).

Related with health and ambient assisted living AITEX has a research group with expertise in textile sensors to monitor physiological parameters and AI that facilitates remote health monitoring.

Among AITEX's research lines, we can highlight projects involving smart textiles, AAL solutions and physiological monitoring to support health and independent living, eco-design and production, circular value chains, waste prevention, and recycling at the end of the product life cycle. The development of new bio-fibres and bio-polymers, chemical and mechanical recycling, the revalorisation of pre-consumer and post-consumer waste, advanced materials, digitalisation, smart textiles and research into new bio-chemical products to substitute harmful substances.

AITEX actively participates in the European Research eco-system and collaborates with different international platforms and networks that matter in the sector (i.e. European Technology platform for the future of textiles and clothing, EPSI (European Platform for Sports Innovation, EURATEX, EUMAT (European Technology Platform for Advanced Engineering materials). Also, AITEX participates in other R&D initiatives such as TEXTRANET® (European Network of Textile Research Organizations), OEKO-TEX®, GEDRT, European Defence Agency CapTechs, Bio-based Industries consortium, ASIBL, SPIRE (European Association Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy Efficiency.

Proven experience in developing Ambient Assisted Living technologies and implementing systems for real-time monitoring of physiological parameters to enhance quality of life
