Within CERTH, the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) is internationally recognised for cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence and data-driven systems, including:

  • Machine learning, deep learning and generative AI

  • AI agents and large language models

  • Visual and data analytics

  • Digital twins and decision support systems

  • Computer vision, XR (VR/AR), and human-computer interaction

  • IoT, cloud, distributed systems and interoperability frameworks

CERTH has strong application expertise in digital health and smart systems, delivering solutions such as:

  • AI-powered virtual assistants and avatar-based systems

  • Remote monitoring and assessment of patients and elderly populations

  • Digital screening and cognitive training (including VR environments)

  • AI-enabled data ecosystems and interoperability frameworks.

CERTH is currently coordinator of the EU SUNRISE project for sustainable health behaviour change in adolescence - https://thesunriseproject.eu/. We are currently actively seeking for collaborations in several health calls.
