Breathome – breath acetone sensing for metabolic wellness and NCD prevention
Project Lead at Breathome Analytics
Helsinki, Finland
About
Breathome (pre-incorporation) is an early-stage project in Finland developing a pocket-sized breath device with a Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) VOC sensor tuned for breath acetone, guided breath input, ambient baselining, and BLE/USB-C connectivity. Our current focus is metabolic wellness self-monitoring for non-medical use. We are a student founder team planning to apply for a Research to Business (R2B) project in 2026 and later incorporate a startup. We are NOT yet a medical device company, but we are interested in research and innovation projects where breath acetone can be part of a multimodal data stack (behavioural data, wearables, clinical/lab data) for: - Prevention and early risk detection of non-communicable diseases (especially metabolic and cardiometabolic) - Behavioural and lifestyle interventions for young people and adults - Out-of-hospital or community-based monitoring We are looking to join consortia as a future SME/tech partner, not as coordinator. In 2026 our contribution would focus on concept development, user research and prototype-level pilots, with the aim to be a stronger implementation partner in follow-up projects when R2B funding is confirmed.
