Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ) was founded in 1981 with the launch of İSKİ Law No. 2560, is a public utility of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality with an independent budget. İSKİ is the main water authority which manages all water and wastewater services within the border of Istanbul. Serving 16 million Istanbul residents, İSKİ makes water and wastewater management with 24 potable water treatment plants with a total capacity of 4.9 million m3/day, and 90 wastewater treatment plants with a total capacity of 6.2 million m3/day. İSKİ also makes drinking water transmission lines, wastewater constructions, and treatment plants, besides stream dredging and reclamation works, water and wastewater analysis, smart grid applications, subscription services, and R&D works. İSKİ may a source provider for green hydrogen production regarding secondary raw material such as sewage sludge, may provide its fields as a demonstration site for pilot-scale applications and share its knowledge and data, and can contribute to the dissemination and exploitation activities.
