We are the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), a pioneering organisation dedicated to the development and testing of marine energy technologies. Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future by providing world-class facilities and services for the marine energy sector. Through 20+ years of engagement, EMEC operates £42m worth of infrastructure in Orkney, Scotland. EMEC collaborates with industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers to facilitate innovation and drive sustainable energy solutions from our seas. EMEC has significant experience in producing and utilising hydrogen from electrolysis using renewable energy and offer space for trial deployments of innovative new solutions for generation and integration with the existing energy mix. Onshore, our core focus is in hydrogen production, carbon capture and synthetic fuel advancements. We have a wide range of employees from differing backgrounds with suitable experience in engineering, environmental monitoring and consenting, business development and technical/operational capabilities. About me

Elaine Salomon is the Project Development Coordinator at the Islands Centre for Net Zero (ICNZ), where she focuses on advancing sustainable solutions for island communities.

With a Master’s degree in Marine Renewable Energy and a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Elaine combines her academic background with a passion for the marine environment. Before joining ICNZ, she gained valuable experience as a GIS Analyst intern at Wood Mackenzie, where she developed skills in data analysis and project support. A German native, Elaine enjoys spending her free time outdoors, diving, and surfing.
