About me
Dr. Veli Yavuz is an accomplished meteorologist specializing in atmospheric sciences, with a focus on severe weather forecasting, air-sea interactions, and climate change. Born on December 1, 1991, in Istanbul, Türkiye, he holds a PhD in Meteorological Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, with part of his studies completed at Missouri University in the United States.
Currently, Dr. Yavuz is a faculty member at Samsun University in the Department of Meteorological Engineering, where he teaches courses such as Synoptic Meteorology, Radar Meteorology, Severe Weather Forecasting, and Aeronautical Meteorology. His research contributions have earned him recognition in both national and international journals, particularly in the areas of thunderstorm analysis, air quality, and environmental monitoring.
In addition to his teaching and research roles, Dr. Yavuz has served as an editor for notable journals like Discover Atmosphere and has participated in various academic conferences and symposiums around the world. His expertise in meteorology has also led him to collaborate on several important projects, including the analysis and forecasting of fog using advanced atmospheric models.
Dr. Yavuz has received numerous awards, including the "Best Doctoral Thesis Award" from Istanbul Technical University in 2022, and continues to contribute to the field of meteorology through his work in research, education, and environmental advocacy.
