Pilot scale Methanol production in a German technology center

Markus Schubert

Professor for Chemical Process Engineering at Dresden University of Technology

Germany

About

We are looking for collaboration opportunities around a newly built pilot-scale methanol synthesis plant for renewable methanol production from CO₂ and H₂. The facility will be operational by the end of 2026 and located within a newly established technology center in Germany focused on circular economy and sustainable energy technologies. The platform is designed for process development, catalytic reactor testing, thermal integration and dynamic process operation.

We are speifically interested in projects targeting:

  • Methanol synthesis from renewable feedstocks (CO₂ + H₂)

  • Catalyst testing and reactor development

  • Power-to-X (PtX) technologies and chemical energy storage

  • Dynamic operation under fluctuating renewable energy supply

  • Thermal integration and process optimization

  • Process modelling, control, and digitalization

  • Experimental validation and scale-up of e-fuel technologies

Something about us:

The Chair of Chemical Process Engineering (CVT) at Technische Universität Dresden (Germany) develops innovative process and reactor technologies for sustainable chemical production and the clean energy transition. The chair combines experimental process engineering, reactor design, material functionalization, process intensification, and modelling to enable efficient and flexible chemical processes. Here is our website: Startpage Professur für Chemische Verfahrens- und Anlagentechnik — Chair of Chemical Process Enginee…

We are an academic partner from Germany, mainly looking to join an existing project consortium. If you are interested, feel free to send us a message!
