Research and Methods
About
The Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change, part of the University of Graz, is a premier interdisciplinary hub that brings together climatologists, environmental scientists, geographers, economists, social scientists, and policy experts. Our mission is to foster cutting-edge research, bridging quantitative rigor with qualitative depth to address real-world sustainability, climate resilience, and environmental challenges.
Our Offerings
-
Climate Modeling & Scenarios: Sophisticated regional-to-global-scale models powered by data assimilation, remote sensing, and Earth system simulations.
-
Impact & Risk Assessment: Quantitative evaluation of climate-related risks (e.g., extreme weather, agricultural yields, water security) with robust frameworks for uncertainty quantification and decision support.
-
Stakeholder Engagement: In-depth interviews, focus groups, and participatory workshops involving communities, policymakers, and industry.
-
Policy and Governance Studies: Qualitative analysis of climate strategies, adaptation initiatives, and regulatory frameworks at local, national, and international levels.
Why Collaborate with Us?
-
Interdisciplinary Innovation: We unite methodological depth with thematic breadth—climate, policy, people—and operate across scales from local municipalities to global networks.
-
Excellence in Publication and Application: Our researchers are consistently published in top journals and actively engage with decision-makers to ensure real-world impact.
-
Custom-Focused Solutions: Whether you’re dealing with quantification needs, community insights, or entirely custom research design, we tailor our expertise to your specific goals.
-
State-of-the-Art Infrastructure: Access to high-performance computing, remote-sensing platforms, survey labs, qualitative data studios, and the university’s global research network.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss your specific objectives and co-develop a methodological framework tailored to your needs. Let’s work together to ensure your project is scientifically rigorous, policy-relevant, and socially resonant.
