This knowledge sharing workshop is organised by the GEOTHERMICA Initiative, JPP Smart Energy Systems, and the Clean Energy Transition Partnership, as well as hosted by the Scottish Enterprise. This one-and-a-half-day in-person event, taking place on 16 and 17 September in Glasgow, Scotland, will focus on insightful presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities.

The workshop aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and create value for both the projects and the wider audience. It is organised for initiatives working on innovative technologies and solutions for heating and cooling in the field of geothermal energy. Selected projects will present their progress, and discussions will focus on key topics and challenges relevant to the sector, including project implementation, funding support, sector coupling, thermal energy storage, and the essential role of transnational and national funding in enabling innovation.

Welcome by CETPartnership TRI4, GEOTHERMICA & JPP SES

  • An overview of the CETPartnership Heating & Cooling Transition Initiative, and the GEOTHERMICA and JPP SES networks, which have supported European R&D in heating and cooling over the past decade.

  • This session will showcase 25 funded projects from the CETPartnership Heating & Cooling call modules and the GEOTHERMICA/SES 2021 Joint Call, highlighting how they contribute to the heating and cooling transition through innovation, demonstration, and system integration_._

  • Enjoy a networking break and explore project posters from across the CETPartnership and GEOTHERMICA portfolios.

  • This session highlights cutting-edge innovations that enhance the role of geothermal energy in the heating and cooling transition. Projects will showcase advances in directional drilling, machine learning, digital twins, and other technologies aimed at improving subsurface understanding and long-term system performance.
