About

The Università di Torino (UniTo) is one of the largest Italian Universities, with about 82.000 students, 6.2% of which of non-Italian citizenship, around 4.000 employees (academic, administrative and technical staff), and more than 1.800 post-graduate and post-doctoral research fellows. Research and training are performed in 27 Departments, encompassing all scientific disciplines except engineering and architecture.

According to the ARWU international ranking, in 2022 UniTo ranked as the 5th university in Italy and among the top 300 universities out of 1.200 worldwide. The NTU Taiwan ranking for 2022 sets UniTo at the 4th place in Italy and at the 131st place over the 500 top universities worldwide. UniTo is also 4th in Italy and 22nd over 600+ worldwide in the 2022 ranking by GreenMetrics, assessing the environmental and social sustainability of academic activities and infrastructures.

The University of Torino offers over 150 undergraduate and graduate degree programs involving about 5,000 international students (a.y. 2022-2023). Doctoral school provides 54 doctoral programs.

As for internationalization, UniTo is involved in about 500 cooperation agreements with institutions all around the world (South America, Mediterranean countries, India and China, in addition to Europe), including joint educational programs at undergraduate and doctoral level.

UniTo manages roughly 500 projects per year, both at the national and international level. The long record of participation of UniTo in the EU strategic research agenda results from 115 FP7 and 176 H2020 funded research projects. Under H2020 only, UniTo coordinated 40 projects, 13 of which ERC grants, taking part in 42 Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions and 9 Research Infrastructures projects overall.

In Horizon Europe 82 projects have been funded so far, of which 9 ERC24 Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions and 10 Research Infrastructures grants.

UniTo is Core Partner of the EIT Food Knowledge and Innovation Community, being involved in 139 EIT Food-funded projects (2017-present) for about 7.9 million Euros, and is appointed since January 2022 as an Associated Partner of the EIT Health Knowledge and Innovation Community, involving the highest profile and mostly renown members from the European community of healthcare, biomedical research, higher education and health and biotech industry.
