The Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) was established in 2005 and serves as the Spanish national supercomputing facility. With a total staff of more than 1000 R&D experts and professionals, BSC has been successful in attracting talent, and our research focuses on four fields: Computer Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences and Computer Applications in Science and Engineering. BSC has collaborated with industry such as ARM, Atos-Bull and Airbus as well as numerous SMEs, and has established joint research centers with IBM, Microsoft, Intel, NVIDIA and Repsol. BSC is a hosting member of the PRACE distributed supercomputing infrastructure and an active participant in HiPEAC, the ETP4HPC and other international forums such as BDEC. The center develops technologies for Exascale and has also established joint research centers on Exascale with Intel and IBM. The center has been extremely active in the EC Framework Programmes through participation in over eighty funded projects.
