Cooke Optics

Founded in 1894, Cooke is a British business with global offices in Hollywood, Beijing, Hyderabad and London.

Early on in our business, Cooke recognised the need to design, manufacture and calibrate lenses that produce warm and natural visuals. We’ve never wavered from that commitment, with each of our lenses being designed with an unrivalled understanding of the pipeline between what the Cinematographer sees and the experience in the movie theatre.  

Handcrafted and calibrated in our factory in Leicester, UK, Cooke lenses are known for the Cooke Look®, recognised by cinematographers for its ability to convey the emotion of a visual story through light, colour and composition. All PL mount lenses have supported /i Technology metadata system since the introduction of the S4i in 2005.  

For over 100 years, Cooke has been at the centre of the filmmaking business, listening to the community of which we are a part. We support industry growth with innovations such as /i Technology, recognised as the film industry’s leading lens metadata protocol.  

In 2024, Cooke launched its new Digital business unit, headed by Jordan Thistlewood, Managing Director, Cooke Digital. Building on the foundation established by /i, Cooke Digital will create a range of tools to bring the power and beauty of high-end lenses to digital workflows.
