KIST Europe
About
KIST Europe, established in 1996 in Saarbrücken, Germany, is the only overseas branch of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and serves as a key hub for Korea-EU scientific and technological cooperation. The Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), founded in 1966 as Korea’s first government-funded research institute, was established to drive national industrialization and economic growth through scientific innovation. Today, KIST leads multidisciplinary research across key fields such as robotics and intelligent systems, brain science, biomedical engineering, clean energy and environmental technology, advanced materials and nanotechnology, and smart digital healthcare. Through its integration of basic and applied research, strong industry-academia partnerships, and active global collaborations—including overseas branches in Europe and the U.S.—KIST continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of science and technology in Korea and beyond.
