About me

Professor Zhang holds a PhD degree from University of Birmingham, UK, on machine learning and pattern recognition. Her research has attracted a total of £6.5M from European Commission, Innovate UK, Research England, and other industrial match funding schemes for projects on deep learning, artificial intelligence and computer vision applications. Professor Zhang led Machine Learning and Natural Computing Research Group with 15+ academics and 20+ PhD students with 16 PhD completions. In Royal Holloway, she has led projects funded by AHRC (StoryFutures Sandpit Competition Winner, 2022-2023), Industrial Match Funded PhD Studentship (2022-2026), Innovate UK Smart Grants (2022-2023) and innovate UK KTP projects (2024-2026, 2025-2027) in collaboration with Livr Ltd, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Rubberatkins Ltd. and DDM Health Ltd., respectively as the PI, to develop machine learning solutions for big data problems.
