My organisation

Creative and Performing Arts, Humanities, and Media: Research in art, design, music, media communications, and cultural studies. Research Centres and Groups MTU hosts a diverse range of specialized research centres and groups, each excelling in their respective domains. Notable examples include: NIMBUS Research Centre: Specializing in cyberphysical systems and IoT. CAPPA Research Centre: Focused on photonics and light-based technologies. BioExplore Research Group: Advancing bio-analysis, diagnostics, and antimicrobial research. Clean Technology Centre (CTC): Providing resource efficiency and sustainability solutions. IMaR and Shannon ABC: Delivering industry-focused research in mechatronics, biotechnology, and life sciences. Halpin Research and Innovation Centre: Promoting maritime research and sustainable development. EdTech and E-learning Research Group: Innovating in educational technologies and learning analytics. Space and Astronomy Research and Policy Group (SARP): Developing instruments and policy advice for space and astronomy. Industry Collaboration and Impact A hallmark of MTU’s research is its strong industry engagement. Over 80% of research projects involve industry partners, with 25% of research income coming directly from industrial contributions. MTU collaborates with more than 130 companies and has a robust record in technology transfer, knowledge exchange, and commercialization7. Research Excellence and Societal Impact MTU’s research spans the full continuum from fundamental science to applied and commercial research, with particular strength in mid-Technology Readiness Level (TRL) activities. The university’s research outputs are recognized for their national and international impact, as evidenced by success in competitive funding, high citation rates, and a broad profile of international collaborations6.
