HEU 2025:Recycling, Recovery and reuse of CRMs in end of life products
About
Our project tackles Europe’s critical-raw-material (CRM) dependency and low e-waste recovery rates by turning end-of-life healthcare and consumer electronics into high-yield secondary sources of palladium, cobalt, rare earths and copper. It will develop and integrate AI-enabled robotic disassembly, selective shredding and multi-method novel separation, recycling and recovery processes. A blockchain-backed digital platform will ensure > 90 % traceability, while bespoke reverse logistics pilots aim to increase CRM-rich e-waste collection significantly and reduce extraction-related GHG emissions by 25 % compared to primary mining. Demonstrated in multiple industrial pilots and designed for cross-sector replication, Our project will deliver scalable, certified “urban-mining” solutions that underpin EU strategic autonomy.
We are seeking partners that are developing recycling techniques, materials characterisation, logistics of waste, waste re-utilisation etc.
