TIZFAB: AI-Driven Automation for Manufacturing Process Design
About
- AI-Powered Process Planning: TIZFAB is developing a solution to **automate technological process design** using artificial intelligence. Our platform will generate complete manufacturing process plans autonomously. This means given a product design (CAD model and specifications), the AI will determine *how* to make it –drastically reducing the need for manual planning.
- Multimodal Generative AI: We leverage large language models and advanced AI that can handle text, code, and visual data. Our *multimodal LLM GenAI* system will:
- Select appropriate machines and manufacturing cells for the job (e.g. which CNC mill, lathe, 3D printer, etc., based on the part requirements).
- Design or choose the required tools and fixtures, tailoring cutting tools or jigs as needed for the process.
- Define the sequence of operations (e.g. material prep, machining steps, heat treatments, assembly order) with optimal process flow.
- Generate all required documentation automatically – process sheets, setup instructions, quality checkpoints, etc., in natural language and diagrams.
- Produce CNC programs and robot instructions ready for execution on the shop floor, verified virtually before deployment.
- *Human-in-the-Loop Refinement:* Engineers can review and tweak the AI’s plan, but the heavy lifting (the creative and repetitive planning work) is done by the AI. This hybrid approach means even less-experienced engineers can oversee high-quality plans. Over time, the AI learns from feedback to improve its recommendations.
- Benefit: The solution cuts planning time from weeks to hours, ensures consistency, and captures expert knowledge in a system that can scale. It directly addresses the labor shortage by augmenting or substituting the need for a large team of process engineers.
