The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is South Africa’s leading public agricultural research organisation, established under the Agricultural Research Act (1990) and governed by the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA). The ARC undertakes applied and strategic research, drives innovation and technology development, and promotes knowledge and technology transfer across the agricultural sector. Its work supports sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, soil health, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, food security, and improved livelihoods through science-based solutions and international collaboration.
