World Fair Trade Organization Asia Foundation

WFTO Asia, a regional network and the Asian chapter of the global WFTO movement, is dedicated to advancing social and economic justice through Fair Trade principles and practices. WFTO Asia is a registered Foundation in Thailand, based in Chiang Mai, and we work closely with a diverse community of Guaranteed Fair Trade Enterprises, social enterprises, producer groups, and civil society partners across the region. Our mission is rooted in supporting marginalized communities – particularly women, artisans, farmers, indigenous people and refugees – by promoting ethical and equitable trading practices, strengthening sustainable livelihoods, and contributing to long-term poverty reduction. Through capacity building, market access facilitation, advocacy, and verification of Fair Trade standards, we empower local enterprises to drive inclusive, resilient, and environmentally responsible development. WFTO Asia cooperates closely with the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). WFTO, based in the Netherlands, is global verifier of social enterprises worldwide through its Guarantee System, spanning 84 countries across 5 regions. The organization pioneers Fair Trade solutions addressing various issues like natural resource overuse, community transformation, women’s empowerment, and sustainable farming. WFTO’s 10 Fair Trade principles are the basis for WFTO Asia’s activities.
