About

Homeland Development Initiative Foundation (HDIF) is an Armenian NGO founded in 2013, dedicated to sustainable rural economic development, women's empowerment, and community enterprise creation across Armenia's regions and border communities. A World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) guaranteed member, HDIF operates through a network of over 150 producer partners spanning more than 15 locations nationwide, providing fair-wage employment and market access to women in vulnerable rural and border communities.

HDIF's work spans handicraft enterprise development, agricultural value chain innovation, and agri-material processing. Through its Arm.wool initiative, HDIF established Armenia's first structured wool valorization program, including the Amasia processing center in Shirak marz, Armenia's inaugural national wool forum, and a comprehensive wool value chain strategy connecting herders, processors, researchers, and markets. HDIF is actively developing circular bio-material applications from wool and livestock by-products, including natural fiber processing, keratin and lanolin recovery, and waste-to-value agri-material innovation. HDIF also delivers educational programming through its STEEL curriculum, integrating science, technology, and agricultural enterprise skills in rural school communities. HDIF partners with USAID, UNDP, UN WFP, and EU-funded programs.
