About

Nyarakoka CBO is a community-based organisation in Siaya County, Kenya, working with smallholder farmers to improve livelihoods through coordinated agricultural production and market access initiatives. The organisation supports farmer groups engaged in poultry production, beekeeping, sheep rearing and cotton farming.

The CBO’s core role is to strengthen cross-market linkages by connecting farmers to input suppliers, aggregation systems and local buyers. It supports farmers in organising production, improving product quality and accessing reliable markets, which helps increase incomes and reduce post-harvest losses.

Nyarakoka also provides capacity building and farmer coordination, including training on improved farming practices, group management and basic business skills. Through these activities, the organisation enhances productivity, promotes collective action and strengthens local agricultural value chains.

By working directly with rural communities, Nyarakoka contributes to:improved market access for smallholder farmers, increased household income and livelihood resilience, stronger farmer organisations and coordination and development of sustainable local value chains
