The Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan (MMIT) is a leading engineering higher education and research institution located in Buston, serving the industrial hub of the Sughd region. MMIT offers Bachelor, Master, and PhD programs across a wide range of industrial specialities, including mining engineering, underground and open-cast mining, mine surveying, metallurgy of noble and rare metals, environmental engineering, geoecology and nature management, mechanical engineering, power supply of industrial enterprises, logistics, oil and gas development, and production management. More than 3,000 students are trained by 165 academic staff using over 40 modern laboratories, workshops, and industrial training facilities. MMIT cooperates with 50+ international universities and 70 enterprises to advance innovation, technology transfer, sustainable industrial development, and digital transformation — including emerging activities integrating data analytics and AI for safer, cleaner, and more efficient industry.
