Slow Food Trebinje Hercegovina

Slow Food Trebinje Herzegovina is a local organization committed to the preservation of traditional food heritage, biodiversity, and sustainable agri-food systems in the Herzegovina region. We work closely with small-scale farmers, beekeepers, food producers, and local communities to safeguard traditional knowledge, promote environmentally responsible practices, and strengthen rural livelihoods.

Our activities focus on connecting food heritage with innovation by supporting biodiversity-friendly agriculture, local value chains, and short supply systems, while encouraging climate-resilient and circular approaches to food production. Through education, community engagement, and experiential tourism, we raise awareness of sustainable food cultures and the importance of protecting local ecosystems.

Slow Food Trebinje Herzegovina actively contributes to EU-funded projects, particularly within Horizon Europe Cluster 6, by offering strong local networks, field-level implementation capacity, and a place-based perspective rooted in real rural challenges. We are open to cooperation with research institutions, public authorities, SMEs, and civil society organizations to co-create scalable solutions that combine sustainability, heritage, and rural innovation.
