Vision

By 2040, “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës aims to become a leading university in the Adriatic–Ionian region, recognized for excellence in education, applied research, and innovation, with a direct impact on the sustainable development of the city of Durrës and Albania as a whole.

UAMD’s mission is to contribute to the transformation of the city and the wider region through:

Alignment with National and European Strategies

National Development Strategies

The Development Plan of “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës (UAMD) is fully aligned with the key national strategic documents approved by the Government of Albania. In particular, it is consistent with:

• National Strategy for Development and Integration 2030 (NSDI 2030), which emphasizes the central role of higher education, research, and innovation as foundations for sustainable economic and social development.

• National Strategy for Higher Education 2021–2030, which promotes quality enhancement, stronger university–labor market links, and the internationalization of higher education.

• National Strategy for the Development of Coastal Regions and the Blue Economy, supporting the development of ports, maritime tourism, logistics, and sustainable technologies—areas where UAMD has a strong geographic and academic advantage.

• National Energy and Climate Plan 2021–2030, highlighting the role of knowledge institutions in the transition to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and green urban development.

Through this alignment, UAMD directly contributes to national priorities related to:

• sustainable economic and social development;

• increased competitiveness through innovation;

• improved quality of education and youth employability;

• digitalization and technological transformation of public institutions.

European Strategies and Objectives

At the European level, UAMD orients its institutional development in line with major EU policies and initiatives, including:

• European Higher Education Agenda 2030, which promotes international cooperation, digital learning, and the development of future-oriented skills.

• The European Green Deal, aiming to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 through innovation, scientific research, and energy system transformation.

• EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR), supporting the blue economy, marine environmental protection, and inter-university cooperation in the Mediterranean region.

• Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ programmes, through which UAMD seeks to increase participation in international research consortia and academic mobility schemes.

Through these strategic linkages, UAMD aims to position itself as an integrated actor within the European Higher Education and Research Area, as well as a promoter of green and digital policies in Albania.
