About

Expertise and key competencies cover green and soft food processing through the development and adaptation of low-energy food transformation techniques for African value chains, including millets, cassava, legumes, seafood, fruits, and cocoa. Strong experience is demonstrated in circular valorization of co-products, using biotechnological and eco-circular approaches to develop bio-based materials and sustainable packaging. The organisation has proven competence in digital traceability and food safety, with the deployment of digital systems based on AI, blockchain, and sensors to ensure product quality, transparency, and compliance. Additional expertise includes the reduction of post-harvest losses through improved storage solutions and sustainable preservation techniques, as well as green entrepreneurship and technology transfer, supporting SMEs, start-ups, and young entrepreneurs in green innovation and digital transition. This is complemented by solid experience in international R&I project management, including coordination and participation in Horizon Europe projects, AU–EU FNSSA and DeSIRA+ programmes, and Tunisia–Canada collaborations.

Relevant experience includes leadership of the EU-funded RESMYLE project (2019–2023), focused on youth professional integration and sustainable development in the Mediterranean region, active participation in Tunisia–Quebec cooperation programmes on eco-circular valorization of marine co-products (2023–2026), and involvement in international projects addressing circular bioeconomy and sustainable food packaging, such as Bio-Pack4Food and IDRC-CRDI initiatives. The organisation is also actively engaged in the development of Horizon Europe Cluster 6 FARM2FORK proposals targeting green and digital transitions in African food processing, alongside continuous training and mentoring of students and young entrepreneurs in the creation of sustainable start-ups and green innovation.

The added value lies in a strong multidisciplinary profile combining environmental sciences, sustainable food processing, circular economy, and digitalisation, supported by proven capacity to coordinate and contribute to balanced Africa–Europe–Canada consortia, and a solid track record in training, technology transfer, and local capacity building.
