About
The Danube Delta National Institute for Research & Development (DDNI) is Romania’s leading research center dedicated to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, environmental monitoring, and sustainable development in the Danube Delta and Lower Danube region. DDNI provides scientific support for policy, develops nature-based and systemic solutions, and coordinates Living Lab–based stakeholder engagement across river–coast ecosystems.
DDNI is actively involved in major Horizon Europe and Mission Ocean projects, including Danube4All, Restore4Life, DaWetRest, DANSER, ClimaPannonia, SWIM, and SoS2LearnDBS. Through these initiatives, the institute contributes expertise in socio-ecology, ecosystem restoration, sediment management, WEF nexus analysis, stakeholder engagement, and co-creation processes, supporting large-scale resilience and restoration actions from source to sea.
