The Institute for Tourism is Croatia’s leading national research organisation dedicated to advancing sustainable tourism development. With more than 65 years of continuous work, it is the country’s oldest and most respected institution in the field of tourism research and policy support. The Institute combines scientific excellence with applied consultancy to help destinations, public authorities and industry navigate complex environmental, social and economic challenges.
Its expertise spans tourism policy analysis, sustainable destination management, environmental and spatial planning, market and economic research, visitor behaviour, and the development of data-informed decision-support tools. The Institute conducts nationwide surveys such as the TOMAS series, prepares strategic documents for national and regional governments, and contributes to EU-funded research and innovation projects focused on sustainability, climate resilience and the green transition.
