Through its specialized agencies, the United Nations (UN) recognizes this complex relationship and emphasizes the need for urgent action to address climate change, improve public health, and transition to sustainable energy systems. For example, the World recognises that as the global climate crisis escalates, its devastating impacts on human health and well-being will also accelerate (World Bank, 2024). The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) acknowledges the substantial risks that climate change poses to human health, including direct effects such as heat-related mortality and increased disease transmission, as well as indirect effects, such as impacts on food production and migration. The UN Development Programme (UNDP) appeals that addressing climate change, particularly in its intersection with public health and energy, adapting to its impacts, and strengthening health systems while promoting sustainable energy solutions should be at the forefront of international ambitions.
