HORIZON-CL6-2026-02-FARM2FORK-05: Boosting circularity and diversification strategies of terrestrial livestock production systems

PEFC, the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems. As an international non-profit, non-governmental organization, we are dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification. 

PEFC has developed a specific certification for Trees Outside Forests (TOF) so that trees and tree-based products that are sustainably managed outside forests can also benefit from a sustainability label.  

In the agricultural landscape, our TOF label provides market access for farmers to sell sustainably managed tree-based products and wood from their farm under the internationally recognized PEFC label. Indirectly our label can incentivize farmers to diversify their income and production.   

PEFC wants to strengthen the uptake of our TOF label in farms on the one hand and simultaneously would be interested in exploring the possibility of issuing credits for ecosystem services from these TOF.  

PEFC is looking to step into a broad and scientifically robust project consortium.
