About

Title: Bathing Water Sanitation – Monitoring and Database
Objective:
The project aims to decontaminate and bioremediate polluted bathing waters by combining advanced monitoring technologies, data-driven decision-making, and nature-based solutions. It will establish a comprehensive database of water quality indicators, pollutants, and remediation actions, enabling authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with the EU Bathing Water Directive and Zero Pollution targets.

Key Components:

  • Innovative Monitoring: Deploy IoT sensors, remote sensing, and AI-based analytics for real-time water quality assessment.

  • Bioremediation Solutions: Implement microbial and phytoremediation techniques to reduce chemical and microbiological contamination.

  • Data Integration: Create an open-access database for bathing water quality, linked to EU environmental platforms.

  • Policy & Governance: Support regional authorities in implementing evidence-based measures aligned with Horizon Europe and Zero Pollution Action Plan.

Expected Impact:

  • Improved public health and environmental safety in bathing areas.

  • Contribution to EU Zero Pollution ambition and Water Framework Directive goals.

  • Scalable model for other European regions facing similar challenges.

Partner Profile Sought:

  • Research institutions (water quality, microbiology, AI for environmental monitoring).

  • Technology providers (IoT sensors, data platforms).

  • Public authorities (regional water agencies, municipalities).

  • NGOs and citizen science networks (community engagement, awareness).
