As the only veterinary faculty in Croatia, it holds national responsibility for training veterinarians in both clinical and public health roles, in alignment with EU standards. It is a full member of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) and has successfully undergone evaluation processes according to ESEVT (European System of Evaluation of Veterinary Training) criteria.

The Faculty has expertise in fields highly relevant to disaster management, such as veterinary public health, epidemiology, zoonotic diseases, emergency animal healthcare and animal welfare. It actively collaborates with national authorities including the Ministry of Agriculture, the Croatian Veterinary Institute, and veterinary branches of the Civil Protection Directorate, particularly through participation in working groups related to animal disease outbreaks, emergency preparedness, and food safety.

The Faculty offers extensive clinical and teaching infrastructure suitable for practical training and applied research in veterinary public health and emergency response which can support Horizon project work packages focused on capacity building, training, field protocol development, and inter-sectoral coordination. Its academic environment fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, including links to One Health initiatives and EU-level veterinary networks.
