Hybrid Processing and Circular Recycling of Textile Waste (HORIZON-CL6-2026-01-CIRCBIO-02)

We would like to develop a project for ''HORIZON-CL6-2026-01-CIRCBIO-02: Advancing recycling technologies for mixed post-consumer textiles waste from blended products'' call.

The project will develop new solutions for the management and recycling of post-consumer textile waste made of mixed fibers.

The use of natural fibres other than cotton—such as bamboo, wool, or other cellulosic materials—is steadily increasing across the EU textile sector. However, current recycling technologies remain limited when dealing with multi-fiber blends, especially combinations of natural and synthetic fibres. To address this challenge, there is a strong need for innovative, scalable, and environmentally sustainable recycling technologies capable of handling complex blends and enabling true fiber-to-fiber circularity.

The proposed project aims to develop advanced hybrid biotechnological and chemical recycling solutions tailored to post-consumer textile waste containing mixed natural and synthetic fibres. Special emphasis will be placed on the recycling of non-cotton natural fibres (e.g., bamboo, wool, other emerging natural fibres), which currently lack efficient recovery pathways when present in blended products.

A pilot partner located in Türkiye is already secured, providing a ready-to-use facility where the developed processes and technologies can be tested under real operating conditions.
