Wolaita Sodo university

Wolaita Sodo University (WSU) is one of the newly established public universities in Ethiopia. Its mission encompasses teaching, conducting problem-solving research, and providing community services. It has been rendering in the training of skilled manpower and professionals in various key areas of development. It promotes inter-disciplinary and problem oriented research, thus, a number of cross-departmental, local and international collaborative research activities have been performed. It also participate in community service towards awareness creation/consultancy and also contribute to its share. Since its inception, WSU has operated as a comprehensive university to fulfil the mandates assigned by the government. Recently, it has been designated as one of the 'universities of applied sciences,' following the differentiation of higher education institutions based on local development potential, available resources, economic significance, and agro-ecological conditions. The university sustainable agriculture/food systems, Biodiversity conservation, land restoration, climate adaptation and mitigation, food and nutrition security, etc.
