Mariana Ornelas

Mariana is the Nanotechnology Team Leader at CeNTI – Centre for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials. Working within the Functional Materials Area, she conducts research activities on the synthesis and functionalization of nanomaterials to produce value-added products. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Porto, where she worked on the development and the synthesis of molecularly imprinted silica particles. With more than 10 years dedicated to R&D, she has been actively participating in several R&D projects (National and European). Her research interests are focused on sustainability, circular economy, waste valorization and on the synthesis of nanomaterials and their application in different industries.
