About me

Luis P. Fonseca got his Ph.D. in 1995 and D.Sc. in 2006, obtaining expertise in Biosynthesis of high-value bioproducts by fermentation, Enzyme technology and Biocatalysis, and their application on Drug Delivery Carriers. More recently, he has been focusing on Green Chemistry based on environmentally-friendly bioprocesses for the extraction of bio-based monomers and high-value chemicals from Agro/food biowaste industries. He looks to contribute to Industrial Biotechnology, Cosmeceuticals, Nutraceuticals, and Pharmaceuticals applications, focusing on Biocatalysis (Aromase Technology), Drug Delivery Nanocarriers (NanoLipCar Technology), and the development of sustainable Green Bioprocesses, especially in the field of Biorefineries (Wise-BioTec Technology).  Luis Fonseca is the coordinator of the Polymers-5B EU Project for the synthesis of a new generation of bio-based polymers based on Polymers-5B Technology, with the goal of contributing to the plastic circular economy in the EU.
