My organisation

At the Dead Sea Arava Science Center, we are dedicated to advancing scientific research and education in the unique ecosystem of the Dead Sea and Arava super arid regions. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates with local and international partners to explore environmental challenges in this extreme arid environment , promote sustainable practices, and enhance community engagement. We believe in leveraging our findings to foster innovation and drive economic growth in the arid landscapes of the Arava Valley. Together, we strive to unlock the potential of this extraordinary area while protecting its natural resources for future generations.

About me

I am a Professor at the Eilat campus of the Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Israel), leading The Winters Lab—a research group dedicated to understanding how marine foundation species respond to climate change and anthropogenic stressors. With 60+ peer-reviewed publications and 20 years of fieldwork across the Red Sea, Mediterranean, and Caribbean, I bring deep expertise in seagrass ecology, blue carbon science, ecosystem restoration, and invasive species dynamics.

My lab operates at the intersection of fundamental ecology and applied conservation, with strong experience in long-term monitoring programs, multi-partner international collaborations, and translating science into policy-relevant outputs. I am seeking consortium partners for Horizon Cluster 6 calls in biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, marine biotechnology, and ocean governance. I offer established field infrastructure in a unique marine biodiversity hotspot (Gulf of Aqaba), proven coordination of multi-national research teams, and a track record of successful competitive funding.

Looking for: Academic partners, SMEs, NGOs, and marine protected area managers interested in Mediterranean-Red Sea collaborations.
