About me
I am a graduate engineer from the Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech faculty at the University of Liège, specialising in the management of forests and natural environments. I am familiar with all aspects of forest management: work, inventories, planning, marking and timber sales. I also have a sound knowledge of forest ecology and GIS, particularly as regards the identification and proper management of all habitats. For BFConsult, I am the reference for Europe, North Africa, North America and Central Asia. I sometimes work in tropical zones. I am a member of the Belgian Federation of Forest Experts.
I'm a senior expert. I have almost 20 years' experience. I have worked in Belgium and France for public administrations, a research centre, non-profit organisations and in the private sector. I have extensive knowledge of the players involved in the agriculture, forestry and environment sectors. I used to implementing practices aimed at improving the quality of our environment, promoting local development and combating the effects of climate change.
After working on the oak sector, I joined the Walloon Agricultural Research Centre (CRA-W). During this period, I contributed to the creation of DECiDE, a decision-making tool for carrying out energy and greenhouse gas diagnostics on farms. This tool has since been improved by my successors. I then worked for National Forest Office in the Ardennes department, where I was responsible for managing a 20,000 ha territorial unit. I have solid experience in forest management, in the implementation of forest renewal work and in taking account of wildlife and hunting. I was also hired by Nature and Forests of the Walloon Public Service as a planner to help revise management plans for communal forests. I helped revise the guidelines for drafting management documents with a view to adapting them to the objectives of sustainable development and the risks associated with global change in the context of three major crises: PEFC non-compliance, the African swine fever epidemic and the bark beetle crisis.
Since the end of 2022, I have joined BFConsult as a project manager. I have taken on the management of private forest estates for which I bring my technical skills and operational know-how. I manage sustainable natural resource management projects in temperate and Mediterranean zones and provide occasional support in tropical zones.
