My organisation

INCDSB's mission is excellence in life sciences research, assumed through the process of integrating inter-disciplinary institutional research on the three main directions - biomedicine/health, agriculture, nutrition and food safety, respectively environment and biodiversity - and ensuring cross-disciplinarity by the four complementary areas (bioanalysis, bioinformatics, applied biotechnologies and research in extreme environments).

About me

Senior Researcher, Biologyst, PhD in Biology, Head of Cellular and Molecular Biology Department – National Institute R&D for Biological Sciences, Bucharest, Romania

Research areas: Bioeconomy - Medical biotechnologies – Material for Health - Development of technologies for obtaining new 3D biomaterials/3D printed biomaterials as scaffolds and controlled delivery systems of bioactive compounds

The department that I coordinate has experience in: Identification, extraction and biological characterization of new bioactive compounds from medicinal and aromatic plants from conventional crops; Development of innovative strategies for plant protection and the modernization of the phytosanitary field through formulation of novel biostimulants, biopesticides and biofungicides used in ecoagriculture; The use of algae biomass in biotechnologies for obtaining biofertilizers for plants (Circular Bioeconomy); Superior valorisation of side flows (by-products and biological waste) from the food industry into innovative formulas of food supplements, functional foods, biopesticides, organic fertilizers, animal feed; Development of phytoproducts in collaboration with processing and producing companies in the field; Human health risk assessment of the use of medicinal plants and derived products (e.g. dietary supplements), as well as novel foods and ingredients.
