About me
Our research team has conducted studies related to forage and bioenergy production from perennial grasses, legumes, sorghum and maize under Mediterranean climatic conditions in Turkey for many years. We have sufficient knowledge and experience about cover/inter/or mixed cropping, crop rotation, and organic fertilization which increase soil organic matter, carbon sequestration, land use efficiency and biodiversity. Additionally, we have wide germplasm resources of many field crop species such as sorghum (forage/grain/sweet types as both annual and perennial), guar, peanut, soybean, teff grass, ryegrass, clover, bulbous canary grass, and tall wheatgrass. We can conduct field experiments to investigate the effects of biodiversity and environmentally-friendly farming practices on crop productivity and quality, soil fertility, carbon sequestration, water retention capacity, and soil nutrient status. In this context, we are open to collaborate as a partner on research projects related to organic waste management in agroecosystems, forage/bioenergy production in marginal lands, soil restoration and reclamation, renewable energy production from organic wastes, and germplasm characterization, intercropping, and crop diversification in organic farming.
