Proposed activities​ by VTT

  • Sustainable Biorefining and Extraction – (lab to pilot) 

  • Biochemical Characterization/structure property relationship

  • Transferring physical and chemical modification of lignocellulosic materials on sea-weeds based polysaccharides utilizing different functionalisation for target applications such as

    • Sustainable adhesives and surfactants ​

    • Modification for biosensing, biomarker applications (lab-scale)​

    • Antifouling paintings and coatings

To achieve these objectives, VTT seeks a diverse consortium of partners, including:

  • SMEs/companies for marine goods supply and scaling up developments,

  • Research and technology organisations for marine biotech (research ideas and fundamentals of marine organisms), biorefining, extraction

  • Universities for AI-driven research, cost and market analysis, and SSbD framework

  • Industrial partners for exploitation and future industrial applications,

  • Partners for communication, dissemination and exploitation..
