Biochar research
Consultant for international projects at Czech University of Life Sciences Prague - Faculty of Environmental Sciences
Prague, Czech Republic
About
The Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, is actively seeking project cooperation within Horizon Europe Cluster 6, particularly in topics related to biochar as a tool for sustainable land management, climate change mitigation, and circular bioeconomy solutions.
We focus on the following research areas:
-
Enhancing soil fertility and resilience through biochar amendments
-
Increasing carbon sequestration in agricultural systems
-
Supporting environmental remediation of soils and water bodies
-
Developing biochar production methods, quality standards, and life cycle assessments
Our Faculty, namely Dr. Lukas Trakal, founded the V4 Biochar Platform (https://v4biochar.czu.cz/en, a regional initiative that brings together researchers, innovators, and stakeholders across Central Europe to accelerate the uptake of biochar-based technologies. While collaboration does not need to be channeled through the platform, it provides a strong support network and visibility for joint activities.
We offer a multidisciplinary team with expertise in soil science, environmental geochemistry, agronomy, waste valorization, and systems approaches, along with access to laboratories, pilot production facilities, and field research sites.
We are open to joining international consortia as a research partner and contributing to co-designing innovative, science-based solutions aligned with the Green Deal, Soil Mission, and Farm to Fork Strategy.
