SmartHealthLivestock – Monitoring for Improved Animal Welfare and Health
About
SmartHealthLivestock focuses on advancing the European agenda for animal welfare and health through smart, scalable, and science-based approaches. The project will deploy wearable sensors, environmental monitors, and AI-enabled behavior analysis systems on dairy and mixed-livestock farms. These tools will support early detection of mastitis, lameness, or distress, helping reduce antibiotic use and improve animal comfort. The project will offer interactive dashboards for veterinarians and farmers, integrate training modules into national advisory systems, and produce policy recommendations on digital animal welfare monitoring. Special attention will be given to regional adaptation, with use cases from Eastern Europe.
The consortium will co-design tools with end-users and contribute to EU-level strategies for responsible livestock innovation and One Health alignment.
