About

The microclimate control model uses combination of a natural and forced ventilation and a special biosorbent to remove ammonia and other gases from the air in farm buildings. The model is based on the next controlled processes:

-       ventilation of air on the three-level system of windows and vents to ensure the flow of fresh and clean air;

-       air purification from ammonia to ensure its safe level in the air of the building;

-       air cooling or heating to maintain an optimal temperature;

-       humidification by spraying water (irrigation) to regulate the optimal humidity in the room.

Microclimate control parameters are measured using sensors (that are also located at three levels inside the room): indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, indoor humidity, outdoor humidity, humidity above the floor and floor bedding, ammonia concentration in indoor air, carbon dioxide concentration in air, air velocity (air inflow velocity). Animal (pigs) condition control parameters for thermoregulation are the temperature of individual body parts and skin moisture; for welfare - immunity and hormone biomarkers.

A biosorbent based on peat and natural humic substances was developed to clean the air from ammonia. This sorbent can be used both in adsorbers for air purification and as component of a floor bedding and it can be processed into fertilizer after its using.

The sensors will also be located also at these three levels inside the room. Heating or cooling, ventilation will be carried out automatically when the parameters deviate by 10% according to the algorithm. For its implementation, it is supposed to use microclimate control software, which can be adapted to work according to the algorithm.
